Video on your blog RULES!

Whether you put video on your static web site or a blog, video, if handled right can bring in visitor traffic by the hundreds! The reason why video is so popular is because people simply find text, graphics and pictures “boring.” We live in an age now where the “common person” can become the next video star.

Where else could you find a complete unknown lady who sings like an angel, get “discovered” on YouTube and is seen by over 3 million viewers? Yes, it is definitely part of your marketing campaign that you put video on your blog.

There are two distinct benefits to inserting video on your blog. First, upload your video on a third party video host like YouTube, Viddler, Vimeo, Metacafe, or Yahoo video. The reason why you want to stay away from hosting video yourself on your own server is the extra large amount of storage and bandwidth that you would need to carry even one video. With so many options out there, it is best to use these commercial sites to host your video.

Now here is the first advantage to using a third party video hosting service…you get to tag and label your video with many search terms and phrases that people would be searching for in videos. So you have the video “seeking” crowd looking at your video straight from the video host. Second advantage is when you “embed” the video in your blog site, you would again, label and categorize the video on your blog post. Now you have two separate sources of people visiting that are seeing your site. You’ve just multiplied by two, how people will view your video.

A great plus is to make sure, when doing a final edit on your video, that you have a text section on the bottom of your video that shows your URL address to your blog. So, wherever the video shows up, it is a 24/7 “billboard” that directs people to your blog.
