Start a business blog without a business

I have been approached by some people asking me if they can actually start a business blog even if they do not have a business yet.  The answer is “yes!”

A business blog is great tool if you want to find out if there is a market for your product or service. Let’s say you have a widget that you designed and you did some fairly good research on the demand of this product.  You could set up a blog about it and start writing posts describing the features and benefits and ask for feedback from your visitors. You may get comments from your visitors that say, “I want to buy it, or I want more information, or what can it do for me?”

With a blog, you can put in a “poll” function in your blog asking these same questions. You can also have a sample product or ebook that goes into detail, what your “widget” can do to benefit your potential customers.

Just think of how economical you did to test a “roll out” of your product concept. Since the only thing you need to do is to match your product with the current keyword search online, you will get immediate results of the market interest of your product.

So, if you want to “test the waters” if you have a viable product, test it out with throwing up a blog!
