Along with all the benefits that a business blog can do for your business, always know that you still need a plan to drive visitors to the blog. Now I am not saying you have to spend major amounts of money for this. First and foremost, you need to know the “free” ways of driving traffic to your blog. Here are some examples:

  1. Complete “labeling” of your blog. This includes meta tags, blog post titles, categories, and inserting relavant key words inside your posts.
  2. Submission of your blog posts to online article directories. (this one is so very important)
  3. Making comments on other blogs in your industry with linkbacks to your blog web address.
  4. Submission of your blog web address to blog directories.
  5. Solicit guest authors on your blog to generate more content.
  6. Making comments in online “groups” that relate to the industry or niche you are in.
  7. Pass out flyers or printed cards with a short tagline promoting your blog web site address.
  8. Making blog “signatures” in all your email correspondance. (this is usually at the bottom of all your email)
  9. Submission of your blog on all “local” search engines.

If your business hits most items on this list, your business blog will literally be a visitor “magnet.” It will be optimized to be successfully positioned to attract visitors, that turn into leads, that turn into customers.
