List Building is Important To Any Business

I have been going through my “mailbag” lately and find that most businesses are interested in getting new customers to increase their revenue. I explain that the best way to do this is to grow the list. Whether it is retaining the current customer base or seeking new customers, the principle remains the same…any business, in order to survive, needs new customers to be successful.

There are several online devices that can help with customer list building. First, a business blog can act as the foundation for soliciting “opt in” boxes where a visitor to the blog can fill in their name and email address to be alerted to future events, discounts, and VIP treatment. Second, a dedicated internet page that offers a discount or incentive for the visitor to enter that name and email address. You can add birthdates in the opt in information for notifying the customer of a gift or special offer prior to their birthday….that helps bring in the customer to the “brick and mortar” location.

Other ways to get email information from customers is on site collection. Before the customer leaves the location, have them fill out an email card for future invites to VIP events, etc. Pass out flyers to people on the street, at festivals, and other special events that lead the customer to the opt in page online.

To the current email list, invite the customer to “tell a friend” to add their name and email to the master email list you have. You are only limited to your own imagination on how to get the word out to fill out the email card or opt in box. Get your “thinking” cap on and start your email program now to grow your list of customers!
