How to Write Great Blog Posts

By

One of the most important things you can do for your blog is to consistently make great blog posts. How, you ask? Start with a compelling blog title. Nothing grabs your attention like a blog title that you can’t resist to open and read. Careful thought must be given to create this title. It does not have to be a long or a short title. But it has to be relevant to the topic of your blog. Whether you have a product or service to offer, make sure it ties into that.

The next thing is to make a short outline of your blog post content. Remember, the blog post does not need to be long. Just three short to medium size paragraphs equals to about 350 to 450 words. It takes me no more than 15 minutes to write a good blog post that would be of interest to my audience.

For those of you who attended college or are attending now, you may remember researching a term paper where you read through other sources to get your information to write about. The same applies here. I usually enter a keyword relative to my new post and see all the articles and websites pop up. I click on the sites that interest me and take a quick read. It doesn’t take me long to rephrase what I just read and pop it in my blog post box.

It also helps if you have a list of topics to talk about in your blog for upcoming posts. That way, you will never run out of content to write about. I often get questions from my students about running out of things to say. If you put in a little effort to list your topics in advance, you won’t have to worry about this. If you run more keywords about your industry or relative to your product or service, you will never run out of websites that discuss so many sub topics on that.

Other things to help you make an excellent blog post is:

  1. Adding pictures to your posts
  2. Adding Video
  3. Take a poll of your visitors about a topic of interest within your industry
  4. Take a poll of the problems your customers have in your industry
  5. Write smaller paragraphs to make it easier to read
  6. Include a call to action to get your visitor to either come in your place of business for a bonus or discount

If you break it down in these terms, you will never have a problem with creating an excellent blog post to keep your visitors coming back for more.
