How Much Time to Spend on Your Blog

By Bruce · Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Lately, I received several emails asking me about how much time to spend on the blog…this includes adding content and promoting of the blog.

My response is, the time it takes is what it takes. Although it sounds cryptic, it really is the correct answer. If you run a simple businesss, selling one product or one service, the attention to your blog would be a lot less than a business that has multiple products or services. A lot of blogs deal with businesses that need to educate their customers constantly because of the how the industry changes.

The common thread that every blog needs is at least a daily “visit” to the attention of content. Remember, the main advantage of a blog over an normal HTML site is the ability to attract search engines via simple interface that allows the blog owner to make changes to the site and consquently rise in search engine rankings.

Everytime you add text, digital pictures, audio, video or any other type of content, it immediately lets the search engines know of these changes and additions and it does nothing but good things to your blog.

In my live seminars, I explain that, when you start a blog, you become a publisher. There is certain responsibilities that come with being a publisher. Your first obligation is to your readers. If you add valuable content to your blog, you develop readers, those readers in turn are entitled to continuation of your valuable content. After all, that is why you started the blog in the first place.

One thing that I forgot to mention is that blogging can be fun too!
