Did you know that video hosting site, Youtube gets over 400 million unique views a day? Other video host sites such as Metacafe, Viddler, Revver, and DailyMotion, get millions more.

Think about this for a moment. You make a simple video that profiles your business or blog and you post it to Youtube. You catagorize and tag it with appropriate terms and labels that relate to your product or service. So when someone goes to Youtube or the other video sites, there is a “search” box just like a search engine, your video will come up in the search listings just like a normal search engine bringing up websites.

What does this mean to your business? Simple, more sales! Here is how it’s done. Make a video promoting your business. It should be between 1 and 3 minutes long and explain what your product or service offering is. It should end with showing your phone number, and/or website information. Upload this to Youtube first since it is the largest video host site in the world. You want to be able to capture a percentage of the 400 million views per day. Just think of how many people are going to search for your product or service when they enter their search terms within that site.

Remember that you are going to tag your video with the appropriate key words of your product or service. Then, after your complete the upload and tag the video, proceed to upload to viddler, daily motion, metacafe and repeat the process. You then have the power of putting your business in front of the millions of people who are searching for your product or service from all over the world!

Now what is the purpose of gaining the attention of the whole world when your business is located in a small community or fairly large city? Simple, the people who are searching in your locale that find your video with your local information are likely to visit you in person. For the rest of the world, the video being viewed by more people from outside your locale are actually helping to build your search engine rank of your website! So there is value of the people around the world who see your video. One of the most important aspects of video marketing is to gain as many views as you can so it will count as a popular video. In a sense, websites are judged based on a world wide popularity contest. The more people who view your video or your website will make your website rise in the search engine rankings with all search engines. The higher you are in the search engines, the easier it is for more people to see it and contact you based on the contact information you provide there.

Video marketing is where it’s at now! Start making your videos and making sales.

When starting your business blog, the domain name is going to be a very important part of the planning process. In order to have favor with the search engines to direct targeted visitors to your site, you should have the keywords of what your business is all about within the domain name.

For example. if you operate a cleaners in Atlanta Georgia, a great domain name could be “AtlantaGeorgiaCleaners (dot) com. It does not matter what the exact name of your cleaning business is. You can always design your site with the exact business name, but the domain name should be different and targeted to the local part of where your business is located. This is considered “local marketing.” To direct people who live and do business in your immediate marketing area is only effective if you attach keywords to your domain name.

It can be fairly easy to rank high in the search engines for your local business because competition for keywords is a lot less than if you were to rank for “cleaners” in general. Without including your city or state in your domain name, you will be competing with literally millions of other websites and it will be almost hopeless to get a good rank to beat those sites.

It is much easier to beat most of the “cleaners” websites in your local area when adding relevant keywords to your domain name.

Want to know the best way to get visitor traffic to your business blog site? Choose the best keywords related for your business and insert them into your blog from post title to the text within your blog content. Yes, it sounds easy, and it can be! Here is how we do it.

Let’s say you are in the painting business and you are located in New York City. You would first list down “New York City painter” or “painter New York City” as your first keywords to use to attract visitors to your blog site. These are the obvious one’s. The not so obvious one’s are a going to be harder to discover. Let’s say “house painter in New York” or “best house painter New York City” could be other keyword phrases to add to your list.

It is highly recommended that you compile a list of at least 50 keyword/keyword phrases. What you want to do with this list is to choose the top 5 obvious keywords and use them to be part of your domain name, blog post titles, and insertion of these top keywords into the SEO section of your blog code. There is a WordPress blog plugin called “All In One SEO” plugin that allows a blogger to insert the keywords and keyword phrases right into the blog post coding. This is the main “secret” on how blogs keep ranking the highest with search engines.

So when thinking about how to increase visitor traffic to your blog, make sure you concentrate on choosing the correct keywords and keyword phrases first.

In our next blog post, we will go over a simple process on where you can go online to pick out your keyword list.

For those of you who have a business website, it can serve as an online “brochure” and give more in depth information about your company and products. There is an added advantage if you start a blog as a companion site to your main site.

I often use the the term “feeder site” when describing how a blog can benefit a main website that a business already has online. As a feeder site, a blog can feed traffic to the static site. As mentioned in previous posts, a static HTML website, that a lot of businesses use as their main site, does nothing to keep attention of the search engines. To the search engines, since there is no changes or updates being made on a regular basis, it appears as a “dead” site. Search engines such as Google will raise your site in page rank only if there is lots of activity going on with your site. You have to make changes such as adding articles, images, video, audio, or edit various things on the site. This is what attracts the search engines to come back and then “report” back to people who uses search boxes to find information, products or services.

Since blogs are an excellent way of getting the attention of the search engines through the blog owner making their own changes on a daily basis, it is also a great tool for linking over to the static site, thereby giving the the static site traffic to it.

Soon enough, you will find that traffic statistics will reveal link backs and traffic to your static site coming from your blog.

If you don’t have a blog yet, but have a main HTML site, it’s time to start a blog!

In this first video, you will see how to basically set up the Youtube account.

If you already have a main website that contains your online “brochure,” adding a blog can act as a “feeder” site to your main site. In other words, your main site, which is a static site with no real value in attracting traffic, can get traffic funneled to it from the related blog. So, if you use a blog as a separate site, with a separate IP address, traffic that the blog attracts can be referenced and directed to the main site.

Here is how you do it. Blogs by their very nature are dynamic and have built in mechanisms for attracting traffic and the attention of the search engines. For example, the way the blog is made, it automatically “pings” search engines when a change to the blog is made such as a new post. Other ways a blog attracts traffic is through tagging, catergories, even the post title adds the focus of what the content is all about. And most of all we can’t forget all the words in your post referencing the niche or industry that your blog is about is “scanned” by the search engines that help drive a targeted audience to it. This does not include the additional “widgets” such as “site maps” and ”All in One SEO,” plugins that can further enhance the attracting of the search engines.

So, when thinking that your business has a web site so you really don’t need a blog, think again!
