But did you know you can set up a “virtual store” on your business blog?

It is easier than you think to develop and implement an online “store front” within your blog. As we write this post, we are in process of adding a “store” tab in this blog to show you how easy it is to make a virtual shopping cart on a page of a blog.

With new blog plugins and features being developed all the time, the time is now to add this feature. Now you don’t have to place hundreds of products in your online store. It could be as low as 3 to 4 items just to “test” the waters to see what things your customers may be interested in buying just from your blog site. You could promote your online store items as “website specials” or limited time sales items to get people moving to buy quickly.

You could rotate items on a weekly basis to give your customers a wide variety of selections to show what you have on hand for them.

The opportunity to actually develop a wider selection to eventually offer up a full blown online store is not out of the question! Some online store sites have started with humble beginnings of offering one or two items and eventually grown to offer over hundreds.

This can be a very lucrative way to add profits to your business!

What is amazing about blogs is that you can add virtually any function to it. Some common widgets that are available are, RSS feed button, calendar, polls, affiliate link manager, video player, and links to your Twitter or Facebook account.

But one widget that can add to your bottom profit line is the online store widget. This widget is a blog add on that allows a blog page to function as an online store. What is included in this widget is a graphic of the item being sold and description along with reviews, price and buy button. Some widgets are simple and some are very complex full blown productions.

What does this mean for you? Well, if you can’t wait for people to subscibe to your ezine or come visit your physical place of business after reading your blog, an online store is the answer for getting instant sales of the products you carry while they arrive to blog for the first time.

What is very cool about the WordPress blogging platform is that there are literally hundreds of widgets out there, free and paid, that are available to upload to your blog to turn your blog into an online store.

Blogs are just one form of online presence. Many businesses, believe it or not, in this day and age do not have a website. If you don’t have a website or blog, you are already at a disadvantage.

Would you believe that, if you don’t have any web presence today, your business will get less to no customers from the internet? Why is that of any significance? Because most people who look for a business go online first! They don’t use “old school” (Yellow Pages Directory) methods anymore when looking up which business they should go for.

Even if you put up a one page website that is an advertisement, it would be a good choice. But the obvious thing to do now, without fail for any business that has a physical location, is to put up a website or blog. Of course, we prefer you put up a blog because of the ease of use for the blog owner and also because of the search engine optimization advantages it has.

For those of you who want to try your hand at “doing it yourself” with putting up a website, here are several free “website making” services:

www.weebly.com

www.wix.com

www.homestead.com

www.yola.com

www.wetpaint.com

So what are you waiting for? There is no excuse not to have your business online with all the free resources above!

So not only are you moving your product from your physical business location, you have an additional avenue of selling your product.

It is so dead easy to sell any product on your blog. With the technology of online payment services, digital photography to insert pictures on your blog, and the capability to upload ebooks on the same server as your blog, you have, at your disposal, everything you need to set up an online store. Now, of course, you won’t be able to let online visitors stroll down the store aisle of a website, but it sure will add to the bottom line if you can have the ability for online shoppers to at least buy a product of interest of your blog and eventually visit your physical store to buy more. The possibilities are endless!
