Blogs make it easy to publish information

girl-with-laptopYears ago when there were not too many choices for publishing to the web, other than very expensive web authoring software like Adobe Dreamweaver, Microsoft Front Page or Fireworks, it limited how many people could easily publish their own sites, let alone blogs.

Back in May of 2003, an open source blogging platform called “WORDPRESS” was released to the world. The very first version of WordPress was WordPress 0.7. The author and founder, Matt Mullenweg, who is regarded as a genius started a revolution in website publishing. It is this platform which started the possibilities of the layperson to download a “free” software that would be user friendly and to allow the user to publish their own thoughts through a simple diary system. Many families and young people caught on right away and started blogging among their friends. They found that they could also post pictures with their “thoughts.” Shortly after that, blogs developed the capability to add audio and eventually video, which is very popular now.wordpress-logo

Since that time, there have blossomed many other blogging platforms such as “Blogger,” “Typepad,” “Square Space,” Live Journal,” among others. All of these platforms also allow the “common” person to blog on their own.

Of course, you can still get the WordPress blogging software for free, but it takes a long learning curve to maximize all the features that it has to offer now.
